Compliance
Every professional who registers with us must undergo our comprehensive recruitment process to meet our superior levels of compliance. Upon successful completion of this process, we provide an induction period during which professionals are familiarised with our company policies and expectations.
Our stringent compliance standards, coupled with our office being open 24-hours a day, gives us the ability to provide a fast, reliable short notice service to our clients requiring a shift covered ASAP. This is an essential service for many of our clients, due to the unpredictable nature of healthcare and the need for extra members of staff, with little prior notice. (Saf) Charles Safapour
Co-Founder
I had actually always had aspirations to join the Police force, but unfortunately didn’t pass the necessary test due to my dyslexia. Undeterred however, I decided to take a side-ways step into the Prison Service.
Read moreAt the age of 21, I realised that despite the challenging and dynamic nature of the Prison Officer’s role, I was keen to develop additional skills and to build upon my earlier academic achievements and I set about finding a new and exciting career path to follow. The next chapter in my working life gave me my first taste of recruitment; working for ‘Ambition 24 Hours’ nursing agency. Within this role, I quickly learnt the arts of negotiation and effective management and above all else, the value and rewards of hard work. I willingly worked 8am until 10pm most days and was always prepared to go the extra mile to get the job done. At ‘Ambition’, I steadily built a hugely successful team and was quickly promoted to Sales Manager.
Recognising my successes as a Manager at ‘Ambition’, in 2003, I was invited to join forces with Kevin Coyle of ‘Coyle Personnel’ and it was at this time that ‘Mayday Healthcare Plc’ was founded.
Building the company up from ‘scratch’ was both exciting and challenging and business grew more quickly than any of us could have anticipated. Manning the mobile phones at all hours firmly paid off and lead to us becoming the largest privately owned recruitment company in the UK, providing to both the NHS and private sector.
Under the ‘Mayday’ umbrella, we proceeded to launch multiple recruitment agencies, taking us to a combined annual turnover of £147 million. Thirteen years later, I am able to reflect on just some of the team’s accomplishments and proudest moments and feel a great sense of fulfilment. These include: eight profitable companies, 380 employees, several listings in the Times ‘Fast Track 100’ and an invitation to 10 Downing Street to discuss policy!
I have always believed that the difference between success and failure is having a great team of people around you. The backbone of any thriving business is the collaboration of trustworthy and dependable people; where the vision is shared and everyone is working towards a common goal.
Having achieved my own personal goals at ‘Mayday Healthcare Plc’ and after considerable deliberation, in January 2017, I decided to depart the company on a high note and throw myself into starting my own new recruitment company, from the ground up. Quite aptly, this ‘next step’ in my career, became ‘Next Step Nursing’. I still find myself driven forward by the familiar passion to nurture and build a successful company, but I never lose sight of the importance of the team around me and my responsibility to inspire them to believe in the possibilities.

Chris Addison
Director UK & Australia
I started my career working as a nursing consultant for an agency in Northern Ireland in 2002 and I’m proud to say I’m still providing solutions to healthcare sectors, be them in the UK or Australia to this day. In that time, I’ve been fortunate to have worked with healthcare professionals all over the world and can attest to their skills, spirit and determination to improve the health of patients in their care.
Read moreMy recruitment experience has mainly focussed on building successful permanent divisions. None more so than at my time at MSI Group where I led a hugely efficient teams recruiting international healthcare professionals primarily for the NHS as well as a large-scale team recruiting functional assessors for a client of the Department of Work & Pensions.
Never one to shy away from the work required to set up new divisions I made the decision to start a fresh and join the Next Step Group to start a new venture in Australia. -
